If you have Express Scripts as your prescription carrier, then you have maybe heard about the issue between Walgreens and Express Script. Both companies have been trying to negotiate their contract for the past year. But on December 31st, the contract expired with no renewal, and both companies will no longer work with each other. As you can imagine, this change has affected and upset thousands of customers. As a result of these failed negotiations, Express Scripts is forcing its pharmacy patients to go elsewhere for their pharmacy benefits. Express Scripts’ actions are causing disruption for its customers with no significant benefit to the patients or their health plans. Customers may have to drive further for prescriptions refills and lose the convenience of the many Walgreens 24-hour and drive thru pharmacies.
For those who can't just go to a neighboring pharmacy, you might be interested in hearing about what Walgreens is offering to help not only military families, but anyone with insufficient prescription coverage.
